Afrikaans singer Randall Wicomb dies

Johannesburg - Famous Afrikaans singer Randall Wicomb died on Sunday morning, according to several celebrities on Twitter.

Singer Steve Hofmeyr tweeted in Afrikaans: "Our hearts are quiet for Randall and those close to him this morning. Mine is sore, old friend. Rest well. Go show them up there the beauty of Afrikaans.".

Singer-songwriter and actor Bobby van Jaarsveld said: "Rest in peace Randall Wicomb. Strength to the family."

Netwerk24 reported that Wicomb was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2013.

It reported earlier in the month that he cancelled his appearances for the rest of the year because his health had deteriorated.

Some of his songs included Hie Neffens My, Snoektyd In Die Kaap and Dans Met Die Rooi Rok
