The South African actress is one of the opening speakers at the conference as the founder of the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project and UN Messenger of Peace.
The annual conference will run the entire week and cover issues such as how the government's Sex Worker HIV plan will be followed through as well as the legal position on sex work and the effective implementation of this plan, eNCA reports.
In her opening speech Charlize said: "Until we engage and empower young people nothing will change...
"The youth will be the generation to end AIDS, but only if we bring them into the room, into the conversation."
