Johannesburg - Like all over the world, gaming is huge in South Africa.
In fact, it’s estimated that by 2017, console, mobile and computer gaming will be worth R3.3 billion. This week sees the return of the biggest local video gaming, computer, technology and geek culture exhibition – and it looks like it’s gonna be amazing.
Apart from being able to view and purchase all the latest gaming and tech gadgets, there will be convention artists, graphic art signings, comics, anime, role-playing, collectible card games, digital lifestyle gear, cosplay, and appearances by AKA and Jack Parow.
We asked rAge head honcho Michael James what he’d recommend I do first.
“Watch and get involved in one of the three eSports tournaments. The Telkom eSports tournament, for instance, sees two teams compete for R1 million, so it’s really exciting. There’s also a Fifa and Call of Duty tournament.
“The second is to experience virtual reality (VR). PlayStation VR is going to be at the expo, so definitely check it out,” he said.
rAge is happening from October 7 to 9 at the TicketPro Dome, here are more details:
