AWARD-WINNING musician, Loyiso Bala, obtained a post-graduate diploma in business management at Henley Business School, proving that it is never too late to go back to school. Loyiso could not even begin to explain his excitement. “The first part of my journey towards an MBA qualification is now officially complete with a postgraduate diploma in management. I can’t even tell you how this feels. When my music career kicked off about 20 years ago, I had to drop out of varsity. But God, who had started the good work in me, has been faithful,” he shared on social media.

LONG ROAD AHEAD

He says it will take him two more years to complete his MBA studies at the same institution. He tells Move! that he decided to further his studies because hefeels the business sector needs more creative people. He adds that even though he has a strong background and a solid experience in music, he still believes that furthering his studies is very important. “Studying will give me a better understanding of managing a business,” explains the host of the SABC3 show, The Mic, adding that he spends 80 per cent of his time on his music career and 20 per cent on his business. Loyiso, who recently started a production company, says the knowledge he acquired through his studies will help him manage his business well. He says he is also in the process of establishing a digital arm to the business.

HARDWORK PAYS OFF

The road to getting his diploma was not so easy for the muso who was classically trained and finished top of his class at the prestigious Drakensburg Boys’ Choir School. “It has really been a challenging time throughout these years of studying. I even thought of giving up a few times, but I am blessed to have a loving wife and siblings who supported me through it all,” he says. “If it wasn’t for them encouraging me, I wouldn’t have come this far.”

LOYISO KEEPS ON WINNING

This year seems to have been a very productive one for Loyiso as he managed to release a single featuring Sands, popularly known for the song Tigi, titled, Ndimbonile. The song has a beautiful vocal blend of isiXhosa and isiSwati. It has been seven years since he released this type of genre.  His list of achievements just keeps growing as he is also expecting his second child. Loyiso is extremely excited about the good news.  “God is good. I’m so excited that I’m going to be a daddy again,” he says.
