Nomzamo Mbatha thrilled to meet her movie idol, Jennifer Lawrence

Actress Nomzamo Mbatha says it has always been her dream to meet her idol, Hollywood actress Jennifer Lawrence.

The young beauty spent this past week in Berlin as part of a select global media group to interview the cast of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, the final instalment of the series with lead actress and Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence, Julianne Moore, Donald Sutherland and Liam Hemsworth.

Speaking to City Press on Friday, an excited Mbatha said: “You see them as big stars on the screen, but when you meet them in person, these actors are so down to earth.”

She admitted she was nervous when she interviewed Lawrence. “I’m grateful for the opportunity that [TV channels] M-Net Movies and Vuzu gave me – it really means a lot to me,” she said.

“When I was approached for this, I was over the moon because I was to meet one of my idols. I didn’t imagine the added honour of meeting Hollywood legends.”

It seems things are really looking good for Mbatha.

She has now signed with a PR and brand agency, which is owned by Krystal Thorpe and Pumza Nohashe. This is the team that managed Minenhle “Minnie” Dlamini.

But Dlamini ditched the team in May this year after four years of working with the agency.

Mbatha told City Press the highlight of the trip was when the crowd went wild and wanted to take pictures with her.

She added that coming off movie press junkets for Tell Me Sweet Something and The Jakes Are Missing, gave her an appreciative perspective as an interviewer and interviewee.

“After each one-on-one interview, I gained a wealth of wisdom, not just from the old guard, but from the young ones as well. I didn’t get acting experience, but I experienced first-hand globally accomplished professionals being gracious and giving me their time and responses. I am inspired and look forward to my next chapter,” she said.

Ster-Kinekor has provided the actress with 20 tickets to give away to her fans. These 20 people will have the opportunity to meet and interact with Mbatha at the local screening of The Hunger Games that will take place in Rosebank on November 17.
