Renée Zellweger’s latest movie transformation might even be better than Bridget!

Cape Town - She’s no stranger to dramatic transformations – but this one may be her best yet.

Renée Zellweger is set to take on the role of Judy Garland in a biopic about the actress’ life, simply titled Judy.

A Twitter account for the film, which is currently being shot in London, released a simple snap of Renée as she croons into a mic. In the photograph, the Bridget Jones star sports a short, brunette crop, a sequinned floral gown and a faraway look in her eyes.

According to Variety, the movie will document the Wizard of Oz star’s final concerts in London in 1968, when Judy is “47 and exhausted, fragile, and wanting to be at home with her kids, casting into doubt whether the shows, at the Talk of the Town nightclub, can go on.”

Judy will feature some of the Hollywood legend’s best-loved songs, including Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Deadline reports.

Renée, who earned herself a Best Actress nod for her stellar performance in Chicago, will likely have no trouble taking on the musical role.

The film, written by The Crown’s Tom Edge, will also star Finn Wittrock as Judy’s fifth and final husband Mickey Deans, and Michael Gambon as manager Bernard Delfont, People reports.

Judy tragically died of an accidental barbiturate overdose in London, not long after the tour wrapped. She was 47 years old.
