Dancer, choreographer, author, Idols judge and media personality Somizi Mhlongo has set the record straight on the insinuation that being friends with his former BFF media personality Bonang Matheba made him more famous.

The insinuation came after blogger and entertainment commentator Phil Mphela appeared on SABC 1 show Real Goboza and in his comments some people felt he alluded to the fact that Bonang 'made' Somizi more popular.

Phil went on to social media to explain what he meant when people were taking him on saying; "I never said Somizi owes Bonang anything. I said his rise and brand elevation benefitted from being around B*".

Somizi responded to Phil on Twitter setting the record straight saying; "No Phil. Idols made me a bigger star not Bonang no no no."
