accreditation

He has played numerous characters on TV an he is not planning to stop anytime soon. It was SABC’s drama series Gaz’Lam that introduced KwaZulu-Natal actor Siyabonga Shibe to the viewers. The 39-year-old actor's love for acting started at a very young age. Before he even got a role in Gaz’Lam, Siyabonga went to stay in Jerusalem to star in a film called James' Journey to Jerusalem, for which he won a Best Male Actor award at the Jerusalem International Film Festival.

PLAYING DIFFERENT ROLES

Siyabonga tells Move! that he is grateful for the different roles he has played in his acting career and thanks producers for always believing in his talent.

“For me, it has never been a rough journey. I'm passionate about what I do and I always love the roles I'm given,” he says, “I just wish that people could go into acting because they love it and not because they want to be famous.”
Siyabonga is a very busy man. Not only has he joined Uzalo, but he has recently just finished shooting Is’thunzi and is also currently working on Z’bondiwe.

JOINING UZALO

Siyabonga tells Move! that he has always been a fan of Uzalo and he's excited to part of the cast. "I’m playing the character of a cop whose brother is a thug. What excites me is that I will be working with new talent, as well as legendary actors,” he says.
Siyabonga shares that when he is not shooting for television productions, he is busy working on producing his own movie. “I have been in the
entertainment industry for quite some time now and I have learned the ins and outs of this industry. I'm planning to produce and direct my first movie
that I have been writing for years. I have been on screen for a long time and I feel that this is the opportunity for me to be behind the camera. This will give me a chance to tell my own stories because I believe that I am a good storyteller,” he says.

FAMILY MAN

When he is not working, Siyabonga enjoys spending time with his family. He is married and has a son. He says his wife is very supportive and has been there for him through the happy and tough times in his career. “I get inspired by my family to work hard everyday and to be great at what I do,” says the actor.
