Supreme sneaker store Shelflife turns 10

Johannesburg - This may not be a big deal to you, but it is to the kids. Shelflife, the iconic sneaker store, celebrated its 10th anniversary in style this week.

This urban outfitter is renowned for stocking tier zero sneakers (rare and limited), as well as the long queues you will have to brave to get new releases first.

People have camped outside these stores overnight, no jokes.

A smaller anniversary party was held at the Keyes Art Mile, where the Rosebank Shelflife store is situated.

The main party was in Cape Town at the flagship store.

It was a laid-back night in Joburg as hip-hop and street chic were the order of the day.

In attendance were people such as DJ Doo Wop, Stilo Magolide, Scoop Makhathini, Mkay Frash and the new face of Vaseline, Riky Rick.

The event also celebrated the collaboration with the new brand Onlock by infamous graffiti artist Sleg.

Quite a few people were wearing his edgy shirts and sweaters, and it goes without saying that everybody’s sneaker game was on point.

An afterparty was held down the road at Capital, where the controversial Okmalumkoolkat played a set that was received well.

This store is a cornerstone of sneaker culture in the country. Here’s to another 10 years!
