And the Idols winner of 2011 is...

Another season of Idols is almost over.

Thank goodness! It's been a long season with a lot of drama.

Remember when Freddie got into a bar brawl and had to appear on stage with a shiner? Poor thing. Before that the ANCYL sunk its teeth into Gareth Cliff over the supposed "lack of talent" in Mpumalanga. Sigh...

But now it's all about Mark and Dave, our two finalists.

I asked Sam Brighton our TV & Gossip Editor and Idols expert who she thinks will win, “There's an incredible amount of support for both; it's too close to call the winner. However, I think Mark will be a more successful Idol.

Dave seems tired, erratic and unfocused. The attention and gruelling schedule is getting to him. When he performed for the crowd at Canal Walk in Cape Town on Sunday, he seemed rather displeased at having to use his strained voice. It's only going to get tougher, kid...

Mark, who's used to the pace of a musician's life, seems to handle it. He welcomes the attention, the adrenalin and the relentless hours. If it were up to the producers, I think they'd see Mark as the safer bet.”

But Dave's mesmerising voice and crazy behaviour make him oh so appealing...

It's a tough one to call.”

Sam is off to the finale in Johannesburg tonight to get an up-front glimpse of the action, plus hopefully a snap with the winner!
