Celebrities and their cell phones

2011-05-31 14:13
Jack Parow might still roll with a Nokia 3310 but most celebrities these days have iPhones and Blackberries. Mobile phones are the ultimate accessory of our times and when you’re famous you have to choose your accessories carefully, especially when it says so much about your personality.

Blackberry owners often ask: if iPhones are so cool why do celebrities use Blackberries? A-list celebs that have been caught on camera using Blackberries include Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Lopez and Paris and Nicky Hilton.

I recently saw a photo of Paris with an iPhone that matched her dress. And a picture of Madonna holding one in her hand, and that was after she so famously admitted to sleeping with her Blackberry. Other iPhone fans include Megan Fox and Lindsay Lohan and Pharrell Williams who has a gold-plated iPhone.

Not all celebrities are mad for mobiles. Britney Spears recently admitted to US Weekly that she doesn’t own a cell phone. Rumour has it that she is scared people will hack her phone and invade her privacy. Not so weird, if you remember that Britain’s News of the World last year apologised for hacking into the voicemail of celebrities. They allegedly hacked into the mobile phone messages of Princes William and Harry to obtain information for use in stories.

Britney is not alone when it comes to cell phone fears. Last year Lady Gaga, the 'Telephone' hitmaker, admitted that she doesn’t use a cell phone because she is terrified of getting a brain tumour. According to reports, she usually asks a member of her entourage to hold her phone some distance from her face when she makes a phone call. And she listens through her speakerphone.
