Election Entertainment

If you’re looking to be entertained this week keep a close eye on our politicians. The municipal elections are here and our local heroes will be pulling out all the stops to get your attention, get your vote and discredit the opposition.

When it comes to attention-seeking tricks, they can learn a lot from Steve Hofmeyr. He knows exactly how to play the media to promote his own political agenda. Just this week, he admitted that he will not actually sing his k-word song in public. The reason? Because he too has black friends. I highly doubt it, but does that mean this was just a publicity stunt?

It’s surprising that Steve and Julius Malema aren’t better friends. Ju-Ju is a ninja when it comes to controlling the media. His recipe: Do / say something scandalous and the media will cover it = Free PR.

Talking about scandalous politicians... this morning it was revealed that Arnold Schwarzenegger fathered a lovechild with a member of his household staff ten years ago. Allegedly, that was why his wife left him. Rumour is he waited until his political term was over to come clean, and that is why his wife and the world only found out about it now.

Do you have a favourite politician or a most-hated politician? And more importantly, are you voting tomorrow? These celebrities are definitely voting: Sharlto Copley is coming home to Cape Town to cast his vote and Vanessa Haywood has changed her profile picture on Twitter to the DA logo.

Ryan McArthur from the rock band Captain Stu says, "People die for it, people kill for it, people spend their lives in prison for it, yet some people can't be bothered to get off the couch to do it."

Here's hoping for a violent-free election, happy voting!

Local is very lekker!
