Cape Town – After two successful shows in South Africa last year, Australian rockers Dead Letter Circus are returning to our shores at the end of November.

A five-piece alternative rock band hailing from Brisbane, Australia, the group has electrified the world, performing at major festivals and opening for the likes of Muse and Linkin Park.

We recently had the opportunity to ask bassist Stewart Hill a few questions ahead of their SA tour.

Check it out here:

Channel24:
You guys visited South Africa last year, is there anything you’re looking forward to doing that you didn’t get around to the last time?

Stewart:
This time around we’re visiting a few different places. One of which is Pretoria, which I believe has a cheetah centre where they look after and breed them. We’ve definitely got time for that!

Channel24:
What can fans expect from your set?

Stewart:
Expect the unexpected!

Channel24:

We know the saying 'what happens on tour stays on tour', but can you please share one of your craziest tour stories with us?

Stewart:
Well there was this one time… in South Africa… But like you said… What happens on tour stays on tour.

Channel24:
What is the one thing that no knows about the band?

Stewart:
We are all big fans of the TV show Top Gear.

Channel24:
If you could collaborate with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?

Stewart:
I’ve personally fantasised about a collaboration with Massive Attack or Noisia. I like the idea of marrying rock and electronic. Some of the sounds these guys are pumping out are awe inspiring.

Channel24:
What would you say is the recipe for writing a good song?

Stewart:
2 parts hard work, 3 parts love, and a dash of magic.

Channel24:
What inspires your songs and your sound?

Stewart:
Steven Seagal.

Channel24:
Do you have any rituals before you go on stage?

Stewart:
Not really. I think the only constant is relaxing with a beer and maybe a shot of vodka or tequila just before going on.

Channel24:
Any advice for up and coming artists?

Stewart:
Have fun, don’t be a dick, play it like you mean it and never forget that memories are far more valuable than money. If only they paid the rent…
