Durban to London, your dreams can take you anywhere, and that’s what Mthokozisi Ndaba, the 25-year-old Idols hopeful, experienced when he had the chance to visit London, England with Idols and Capitec Bank.
Mthokozisi, who says the first song he knew all the lyrics to was ‘Stars’ by Zola 7, said that the trip made him see that music can take him far, if he puts in the effort and is driven by passion and hunger.
The trip, sponsored by Capitec, allowed the top 3 contestants to tour the historic city, visit Madame Tussaud’s, and take a ride on the London Eye.
Mthokozisi hails from KwaMashu, Durban, and had a challenging experience in the beginning of his Idols journey, as after his audition he was shot in both legs during a mugging. However his perseverance pulled through and he continue to work his hardest to make it to the final of season 13.
On the trip, Mthokozisi used his Capitec debit card to buy African elements as well as a Springbok cap, because his patriotism and love for South Africa burns bright. He also commented that his favourite public figure at Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum was former president and global peace leader, Nelson Mandela.
He said that the Idols journey has taught him discipline, respect, hard work and the importance of taking your craft seriously. Following Idols, he would like to venture into the soul genre and be able to live his dream.
