Beatrice's hat earns a Facebook page

Cape Town -  Princess Beatrice's headwear at the royal wedding has become a dubious and unexpected hit, garnering its own Facebook fanpage.

Fans were quick to comment on the eye-catching creation. "I thought it was a lobster at first," said Emily Armour.

"Portkey to Diagon Alley?" quipped Eve Dani, referencing Harry Potter.

Others were more forgiving: "As silly as the hat looks I must admit the rest of her outfit was very classy & classic and I did love it, she really did get the outfit right and wore it beautifully," wrote Peta Beaumont.

Princess Beatrice is the elder daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah, the duke and duchess of York.
