London – The royal wedding has become the most downloaded TV programme on the British version of iTunes.

According to The Telegraph, the major broadcast beat usual UK favourites such as BBC’s Doctor Who and The Inbetweeners.

The broadcast is available to download on the British version of  iTunes in full and for free.

Besides the digital charts, the royal wedding also broke records last week when it attracted the largest ever concurrent live streaming audience online - surpassing the 1.6 million peak set by the Soccer World Cup in June 2010.

The royal wedding also dominated social media sites with mentions on both Twitter and Facebook every second.
