5 TV shows for you to secretly indulge in

accreditation

Cape Town – After a long week of work there's nothing better than unwinding and spending some time with your girls, or have some me time.

With ShowMax they're just a finger tap away and you won’t even have to leave your couch. If you're in the mood to laugh, cry and even do some detective work there's a show for that.

Here are 5 shows to secretly indulge in:

1. Girls (seasons 1-5)

Girls has changed the portrayal of women on television, one hopes, forever. Created by the maverick Lena Dunham, who plays the lead role of Hannah Horvath, she is by turns self-destructive, spoiled, selfish, tactless, vulnerable, and petty, but you will find yourself rooting for her in her quest to support herself as a writer after her parents cut her off. Hannah and her equally flawed but relatable friends Jessa, Marnie and Shoshanna live in Brooklyn, New York and are trying to live their best lives, but reality keep getting in their way.

2. Devious Maids (seasons 1-2)

Get a glimpse into the lives of the ladies who take care of the houses of the rich and powerful. But it’s not all dusting and mopping. Rosie, Carmen, Zoila and Valentina each have their own drama to deal with – starting with the murder of their friend Flora. They’re joined by Professor Marisol Suarez, who pretends to be a maid to solve the murder when her son is accused of committing the crime.

3. Girlfriends Guide to Divorce (seasons 1-2)

Abby McCarthy may have all the answers when it comes to writing a self-help book for others, but she has no idea how to handle her own divorce. Together with her recently single girlfriends, who have all left their husbands for various reasons, she intends to figure it out. There are lots of laughs along the way. Both the storyline and the cast, particularly Lisa Edelstein who plays Abby, have received high praise from critics.

4. UnReal (season 1)

Lights, chaos, action. A behind-the-scenes look at a reality dating show where a producer will do whatever it takes to get outrageous footage. Even if it means completely manipulating the contestants to be as crazy as possible. Cat fights, nudity and 911 calls are the names of the game in this dark comedy.

5. Sex and the City (seasons 1 -6)

An oldie but a goldie! Based on the novel by Candace Bushnell, Sex and the City follows sex columnist Carrie Bradshaw and her three close friends as they navigate the pitfalls of dating in the Big Apple as thirtysomethings, while looking fabulous, having fun and making names for themselves in their careers. It’s risque, it’s sassy, it’s brutally honest and it’s an absolute feast for the eyes if fashion is your thing.
