Cape Town – Recently the world was hit by a massive ransomware cyber-attack.
According to The Guardian 45 000 attacks were recorded in countries including the UK, Russia, India and China.
The attack was stopped by a 22-year-old MalwareTech researcher. (Read more here.)

Here are 7 things you probably didn’t know about the show:
1. The story of the black hoodie
The famous black zip-up hoodie Rami's character wears is actually the actors own. Costume designer Catherine Marie Thomas told PeopleStyle that it's like the crown jewel.
She goes on to reveal that Rami loves the hoodie and has a sentimental attachment to it. To keep the piece of clothing in good condition they take special precaution in caring for it by not washing it too often.
2. Emmy Rossum put in a good word
Shameless actress Emmy Rossum was so impressed with Rami after seeing him in another show that she suggested to her then boyfriend Sam Esmail, creator and executive producer to hire him.

3. The Easter Egg in each episode
Here’s a fun fact, every episode title in season 1 uses a video file format while each episode in season 2 uses an encrypted file format.
4. Becoming a hacker
Unlike his character Rami isn’t very tech savvy. In preparation for the role he attended a hacking seminar.
He also revealed during an interview with Stephen Colbert that he is a terrible typer and got lessons from a typing instructor to correct it.

5. What he actually snorts
In the scenes in episode one where Elliot sniffs morphine Rami was sniffing vitamin b pills for real.
During an interview with Seth Meyers Rami revealed that the sniffing became too much for him which promoted the props department to create a special device which he hid n in his sleeve to vacuum the powder.

6. What’s in a name?
Elliot's pet bettafish is named Qwerty which is the first six letters on a standard keyboard.
7. Step into the world of Mr Robot
Fans got a chance to step inside the world of the show via a virtual reality episode released in July 2016. The episode captures a memory from Elliot's past.
