1. In the winter of 1978, Janez was born in Cape Town to a set of liberal and possibly very good looking parents.
2. After years of cutesy-cooing from annoying tannies, Janez was delighted to go to school at Camps Bay where he could charm ladies his own age.
3. He left the schoolgirls of Camps Bay behind and went in search of greener pastures overseas, eventually studying in Belgium for four years.
4. He went from studying archeology to completing his interior design course in 2000. Very interesting career move there...
5. When he was young he thought he'd be an artist like his father. But most of all he hoped to travel the world.
6. And then there was Top Travel. He visited over 36 countries while shooting the lifestyle show with bestie Jeannie D. Talk about making your dreams come true.
7. He could still be an artist if he wanted. He says his dad is particularly proud of his drawings and paintings, some of which hang in Janez's lounge. His latest work is a Mondrian meets Rietveld abstract painting with primary colours.
8. Despite being ridiculously good looking, Janez swears he never saw himself as a model. That was until he accepted his first modelling gig at the end of 2000 when he returned to South Africa with empty pockets.
9. And of course a whole lot of modelling titles followed, eventually resulting in the inception of his own model agency, Full Circle.
10. Because three jobs aren't enough, Janez uses his modelling money to put his interior design skills to use. He buys, renovates and sells properties for fun.
11. He needs as many jobs as he can get. Janez has a son to support.
12. His son's name is Matisse and yes, he's named after the French artist, Henri Matisse.
13. Matisse turned six on June 12 and Janez could unfortunately not make the party due to travelling commitments. Eish, that's got to sting.
14. He made up for it by buying Matisse a whole bunch of Bafana Bafana and Brazilian soccer gear.
15. The Brazil gear is because Janez's girlfriend is Brazilian. She's a model. But she's not Gisele Bundchen.
16. Just because he's attached, it doesn't mean he can't appreciate other fine forms. Janez loves the fact that South African women are sporty and active.
17. His celeb crush is Isidingo's Kim Engelbrecht.
18. Although he's always surrounded by beautiful women, Janez can't escape the rumours that he's gay. He took offence to this particular story and photo of him posing with another man. He explains "I'm used to gay people touching me all the time, doing makeup, dressing me, and it's just normal to me. I'm quite comfortable putting my arm around a gay guy, because I know I'm not gay". Tell it like it is.
19. His Top Billing crew may be well aware of his sexual orientation, but that doesn't stop them from teasing him and referring to him as 'Janice' on set.
20. Janez started out on Top Billing with fellow model Aidan Bennetts as the DIY dudes. Of course all shoots were done without proper safety gear or above-the-waist clothing. He just wouldn't look as good in a plaid flannel shirt.
21. Fellow Top Billing presenter Jeannie D is his best friend. Are they more than friends? "Never been together," he says. "We knew each other from before Top Billing and we had a lot of fun when the public thought we were together."
22. He describes Jeannie as 'energetic' and he speaks to her every single day. I'd find that a little close for comfort if I was his girlfriend, but hey, unfortunately I'm not.
23. The latest in his long list of accolades is the YOU Spectacular Award for Sexiest Male. We concur.
24. Hoping to spot Janez and his girlfriend at the Waterfront? Not likely. The couple prefers to keep their relationship indoors and out of the limelight.
