Bay City

2009-07-23 17:41
Bay City is a retro-fabulous photo-soapie that aims to put the 'A' back in 'action', the 'M' in 'mystery' and the 'Rrrrrrrr' in 'romance'.

To produce the series, the readers of tvplus selected nine lucky winners to play each and every role. Golden ticket in hand, they were flown down to Port Elizabeth to shoot all thirteen episodes in one weekend.

See what it's all about in our behind-the-scenes video.

Or meet the cast in these short, 30-second video profiles:

Arhtur Cornelissen – The Slick Salesman
Dave Tomlinson – The Private Eye
Dewald Botha – The Medical Student
Fourie Stroebel – The Evil Landlord
Henck Conradie – The Struggling Musician
Kim Rest – The Angry Young Girl

Natasha Luiters – The Rich Older Woman
Shanti Sobrayen – The Good Girl
Val Bodiba – The Queen Bee

But tvplus wouldn’t let the weekend go by without a party. Stars from some of SA’s favourite TV dramas including Egoli, Isidingo, 7de Laan, Binnelanders and more were flown down to meet the contest winners and launch Bay City with a bang. As a treat to its readers in Port Elizabeth, tvplus also invited Idols winer Sasha-Lee Davids, Snotkop and Willem Botha to perform in front of a packed auditorium at Boardwalk Casino.

Naturally, Channel24 took the opportunity to speak to these in-demand local musos:

Sasha-Lee Davids
Willem Botha

You can catch Bay City nationwide in tvplus from Wednesday, 12 August.
Channel24 tagged along with tvplus for the fun-filled shoot of a brand new photo soapie, Bay City.
