Thembisa contestant leaves Idols

Idols' Bongi

The vivacious contestant had been a favourite from the audition rounds, but judge Randall Abrahams correctly predicted that Bongi would be in the bottom three, along with Jamie-Lee Sexton and Pieter West.

Every week local radio stations across the country are polled as to who their listeners think will be voted out, and none of the predictions were correct this week, with almost every station deciding on a different contestant.

The judges once again decided not to exercise their save vote, which they are able to use up until the top 4 round. Bongi garnered the least amount of valid votes and was thus eliminated from the competition.

This week's guest judge, Tamara Dey, performed with Flash Republic on the live results show.

Next week the Idols will be performing classic South African tracks.

Idols performance shows air Sundays on M-Net at 17:30.
Self-taught pianist Bongi Mthombeni has fallen out of the competition.
