Video and the radio stars

Johannesburg - 5FM and SABC 3 have joined forces to bring South African audiences a new entertainment show.

(TV)5 will bring some of the most popular components of the radio station from the air-waves to the tube.

Described as the "television face of 5FM", (TV)5 will bring well known radio personalities to the screen.

The show will feature an eclectic mix of magazine, lifestyle and music stories covering news, gossip, events and tours, parties and gigs happening both locally and abroad.

Behind the scenes

Viewers will get to see what goes on behind the microphones of the popular 5FM DJs and presenters, taking well-known aural segments of the radio shows into the realm of the visual. Features such as Gareth Cliff's News to Use or Lose and The Fresh Drive's Tyren's Top Five will be some of the facets that will be brought to the programme.

5FM's Grant Nash and Anele Mdoda will act as anchors, while the show will also include Thomas Msengana on sports, Sureshnie's Top 3 of the Top 40 and Power Nites presenters (DJ Fresh, Euphonik, Bongi Mbelu, C-Live and Jon Savage)  as well as packaged inserts lead by 5FM DJs.

(TV)5 is part of SABC 3's new Friday night lineup which includes reality shows such as MTV's The Hills and Cribs.

The first episode of (TV)5 will air on SABC 3 on Friday, February 4 at 19:30.

(TV)5 will be broadcast for 26 weeks in its first season.

Will you be tuning in to (TV)5 or do you get enough of them on your radio?
