Dear Mr. Riaan Cruywagen,

It comes with sadness that I logged into Twitter this morning to read of your retirement after 37 years of being the legendary Afrikaans news anchor in South Africa.

I grew up watching you, as an English speaking person watching the Afrikaans news has helped me along my growing years to take an interest in wanting to speak, read and write Afrikaans for which I have come to do.

Thank you for being a role model to many of us, that has grown up watching you on TV - Afrikaans news will never be the same again.

May I take this opportunity of wishing you a wonderful retirement, put up your feet and relax.

I pray God's blessings upon your life Mr Cruywagen, and know this that you have come to touch the hearts of many South Africans, your face will be missed :-(

With much love and respect.
