Riaan Cruywagen is a legend

I would like to pay tribute to an absolute legend!

Back then I was 9 years old in 1975 when we got a TV. Then TV only started at 6pm in the evening and all us kids playing outside (no computers) would check the clocks to make sure we were there seated on the floor in front of the TV.

I remember Riaan Cruywagen as the very pale guy with perfectly styled hair who read the news - for many years us kids debated if it was a wig. No - it was just every hair in place, just like his perfectly delivered news reading!

However, even as a kid when he read the news we sat quietly because there was something about his voice that made one listen.

I remember watching and loving Haas Das se Nuuskas and remember being told by my Mom he is the one that does the voice of that iconic Bunny! I still think it is pure brilliance for our much loved newsreader to have had his own Non de Plume - clever!

Years and years later Riaan is still on the TV and not looking much older than he did way back then! As a mom I even Googled Riaan's images to show my kids that he was on TV when I was a kid, and I am 45 now!

I wish Riaan the very best for his retirement. Thank you Riaan for your dedication and commitment to our nation South Africa.
Enjoy your much deserved rest.
