I remember Riaan as a 7 year old making me smile watching
Haas Das, then crying when Riaan read
the news shortly thereafter.
As a teen, Riaan opened a world to us - news, events, people but also compassion, joy, pain and a belief in the future.
As an Adult, Riaan represented for us the new South Africa - he represented statesmanship, dignity, hope and credibility in the news he was asked to share with us.
Riaan, we are going to miss you. You have left some big shoes to be filled.
