TopTV porn: The last thing SA needs

Coming from a nation that used to virtually faint at the sight of a single nipple, we wonder if democracy was meant as a "free for all" and an attitude of "anything goes".

And, as a nation with a serious history of rape and abuse against women - pornography will rather incite than placate the male species.

This is quite apart from the religious aspect. It is definitely wrong and against God's laws. Many past major and great civilizations have fallen once all the taboos are lifted - and pornography is definitely one of these taboos. Protecting our children from such smut should be a priority. Their values vis-à-vis the opposite sex will be totally distorted.

It seems that TV stations will do anything, show anything just to make a quick buck. This is indeed a sad state of affairs.

When money is tight, people are out of work and struggling to make ends meet - a subscription to a pornographic programme is the last thing the world (South Africa) needs.
