4 things you need to know about Lip Sync Battle Africa

Cape Town – In case you've been living under a rock, Lip Sync Battle Africa premieres tonight.

South Africa is the eighth county to adapt the popular hit show.

Here's what you need to know.

1. The hosts

Media personality Pearl Thusi and Nigerian Afrobeat singer D'Banj will front the show.

The pair talk about what to expect on the show.

2. The format

The local series will have all the bells and whistles of the international one: dancers, wigs, costumes, props and tons of swag.

The first season comprises of 13 half hour episodes.

Each contestant must sync to two songs – one of which will be by an African artist.  The winner is chosen by the live studio audience.

3. The contestants

First up to battle it out are ex-lovebirds Boity Thulo and hip hop star Cassyper Nyovest.

By the looks of it the two have been working real hard to be crowned the first lip sync battle winner!
