5 things you quickly need to know about kykNET’s new soapie

Cape Town – kykNET’s brand new soapie, Suidooster makes it's grand debut tonight.

It is the first Afrikaans soapie to be filmed in Cape Town and has a cast of familiar and new faces.

Here are 5 things you need to know about the soapie.

1. The plot

The soapie plays off in and around a small shopping and business centre situated in the fictional Cape Town suburb of Ruiterbosch where the lives and times of three families will be placed under the looking glass.

2.  Meet the families

The Octobers – Ian (Abduragmaan Adams) is a real estate tycoon. His wife Bridgette (Denise Newman) has a dark secret. Their two children Nicole (Gerwen Simon) and Jerome (Danny Ross) work at the family business.

The Samsodiens - AB (Cedwyn Joel) owns the local pharmacy, his wife Mymoena (Jill Levenberg) is a stay-at-home mom. They have twin sons, Rhafiek en Rhihaaz. Rhafiek (Irshaad Ally) works at the October’s business and Rhihaaz is overseas.

The Du Plooys  - Chris (Marcel van Heerden) works for Ian, his son Tim (Marco Spaumer) has just landed a job at the October’s business. Stefan (Gideon Lombard) and Michelle (Greta Pietersen) live with them after hitting a rough patch in Gauteng. Stefan is the cook at Oos Wes restaurant and Michelle works at the pharmacy.

3. Three other characters you must know!

Mrs J (Theresa Sedras) is Bridgette’s mom she is in search of her younger daughter Lee-Ann (Portia Joel) who left without a trace.

Oom Fasie (Johan Botha) is Mrs J's neighbour and friend. He owns the local restaurant Oos Wes.

Bianca Fourie (Simone Biscombe) is a mysterious newcomer who arrives looking for a job.

4. The catchy theme

Singer, Alistair Izobell composed two special songs for Suidooster, one was used as the theme song.

5.  When and where to watch it

The show airs Monday – Wednesday  at 18:00 on kykNET (DStv 198) and kykNET&kie (DStv 145).
