9 new shows on VIA this October

Cape Town - Nine brand-new TV programmes kick off on the Afrikaans lifestyle channel VIA (DStv channel 147) this October.

Whether DStv viewers enjoy cooking, makeovers or thrilling reality TV, they will find it on VIA this month.

From 24 October, VIA invites viewers on an unforgettable culinary adventure in Jan. In this new show we meet South Africa’s very own Michelin-star chef, Jan-Hendrik van der Westhuizen, in Nice. Our cameras then follow him to the Italian village of Apricale where he finds inspiration for his boundless creativity. Tuesdays at 19:30, with repeats on Sundays at 20:30.

In the new style show Opgetof, an experienced décor team help guesthouse owners in the Free State town of Parys to get their businesses back on track. From 3 October every Tuesday at 17:30, with repeats on Sundays at 13:30.

Die skatties, which starts on 4 October, is a makeover in celebration of strong women. In every episode, the beloved Christi Panagio and her makeover team transform a special guest in the
style of an iconic pin-up heroine from the 1950s and 1960s. Wednesdays at 17:30 with repeats on Sundays at 15:30.

In Veld tot vurk, the celebrated chef and forager Chris Erasmus shows viewers how to prepare a lavish meal with fresh ingredients straight out of the field or the garden. From 4 October, every Wednesday at 18:00 with repeats on Sundays at 19:30.

In My matriekafskeid, the adorable presenter Sinki Mlambi takes us on a journey to the biggest night of a girl’s high-school career: her matric farewell. In every episode our cameras follow
three matric girls from one school on their search for the perfect dress and date for her matric dance – and even join in the party on the big night. From 4 October, every Wednesday at
19:30 with repeats on Saturdays at 21:30.

In Wat is in ’n naam? – which also starts 4 October – the famous couple Diaan Lawrenson and Jody Abrahams as well as their friend Emo Adams and his wife Michelle Gildenhuys explore
their roots through their families’ love stories. Wednesdays at 20:30 with repeats on Sundays at 19:00.

From 10 October viewers get to hang out in Moskou se kombuis. In this food-meets-talk show, the young chef and musician Moskou du Toit invites bright young things to a secret
location in Stellenbosch where they cook, talk and party up a storm. Tuesdays at 18:00 with repeats on Saturdays at 21:00.

In Eerste liefde we see whether an encounter with the first person you fell in love with, can dramatically change your life. In every episode of this new reality show, 13 brave people share
what happened when they revisited their first love after several years. From 18 October, every Wednesday at 21:00 with repeats on Sundays at 22:00.

Die roof-dossiere is a gripping and insightful new show in which we explore the stories behind the biggest heists and robberies in South African history as told through the eyes of crime
experts and those who witnessed these events. From 26 October, every Thursday at 20:30 with repeats on Saturdays at 20:00.

DStv Premium, Compact Plus and Compact customers who use Catch Up on DStv Now or DStv Catch Up Plus, can now get more shows from VIA from October.

New VIA shows Jan, Opgetof, Die skatties and My matriekafskeid; as well as shows that recently started Nisboere,  and Jay en die boys will be available on these services. And of course, old favourites are still available – log on now to watch Kom ons braai, Kom ons braai: familie en vriende, Laat die potte prut, Vrydag 4 uur, Huisgenoot: Ware lewensdramas and Okkasie-inspirasie.
