9 shows you should watch on M-Net in August


Cape Town - We’re entering the last leg of winter and to keep you cuddled up in front of the TV, M-Net has a line-up of hot new shows debuting in August.

Here’s our list of top 10 new series and reality shows you cannot afford to miss!

1. MasterChef South Africa season 3

The hit amateur chef show returns to the screen with a new judge in tow. Award-winning chef Reuben Riffel joins Benny Masekwameng and Pete Goffe-Wood. The show is a feast for the eye with heart pumping drama!

2. The Big Bang Theory season 7

Bring on the laughs! The hilarious series following a group of nerds and one hottie returns. We cannot wait to hear all the new quotable Sheldon sayings.

3. Beauty and the Beast

After a break mid season, Catherine and Vincent return to sort out their feelings for each other. Will the pair get together or will Vincent’s secret be their undoing?

4. Resurrection

Based on the book The Returned by Jason Mott, this fantasy drama series is about dead people who return to life. Set in the town of Arcadia, Missouri, an eight-year old boy who died 30 years ago return to his aged parents after being found alive in China.

5. The Knick

This is Grey’s Anatomy in the 1900s.  Clive Owen plays Dr John Thackery, a surgeon whose new methods are changing the face of medical science. The series follows the personal and professional dramas of Dr Thackery and the staff at New York's Knickerbocker Hospital.

6. Those Who Kill

The Dexter fans will love this one! Based on a Danish television series it follows homicide detective Catherine Jensen who enlists the help of a forensic psychiatrist Thomas Schaeffer to track down serial killers and discover the truth about her own missing brother.

7. The Smoke

This British drama follows the adventures of White Watch, a team of London fire fighters. It focuses on Kev Allison, the leader of the team who returns to work after sustaining an injury during a rescue. He returns emotionally and physically broken and questions whether he has chosen the right path.

8. Bet on Your Baby

This game show sees parents betting on their babies. The episodes feature five families with toddlers who play to see how well they can guess their child’s next move in order to win money for their college fund.

9. It Takes A Choir

Music brings people together in this reality show led by award-winning choirmaster Gareth Malone. He travels America looking for people who are willing to take on the challenge of creating a professional show choir.
