A quickie with e.tv's Sunrise anchor Penny Lebyane

Cape Town – Well-known TV and radio personality Penny Lebyane is the new morning anchor on etv’s Sunrise breakfast show every weekday between 06:00 to 08:30.

With over 15 years in the industry this makes her a perfect addition to morning TV.

We chatted to Penny about her new show, her morning routine and whether she likes TV or radio more.

Channel 24:

"What’s your favourite breakfast?"

Penny:

"I’m an oats kind of girl." She continues, "Give me oats and green tea and  I’m ready to go!"

Channel24

"Americano, Cappuccino, Latte or Rooibos tea?"

Penny:

"Rooibos tea, definitely rooibos," she says without hesitation.

Channel24:

"What do you wake up in?"

Penny:

She laughs, "Pyjamas." She continues in a playful tone, "Well for now polka dots and other times silk pyjamas."

Channel24:

"What do you like doing more TV/radio?"

Penny:

"Oh Shucks! That’s not fair!" she says. "It’s like asking me my nail or my finger."  She continues tentatively "I enjoy them both. They both present their own set of challenges." She adds, "I am freer on radio though."

Channel24

"Are you a morning person?"

Penny:

"Yes, I am." She continues with filling us in on her morning routine, "I am usually up at 03:00. I make some time for myself. I read and do my devotions and then I get ready. I leave my house around 04:20 and get to the Hype Park studios. At around 05:00 it’s wardrobe and make-up and by 05:30 I am ready for the Sunrise show."
