ASA rules against SMS porn ads

Johannesburg - The Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa has ruled in favour of a complainant who reported that e.tv broadcast an SMS porn advertisement from Itouch South Africa at an inappropriate time, reports
mybroadband.co.za.
The SMS porn ad in question was aired at 00:03 on Women's Day 2010, but at that time a movie called
Another Woman was being screened.
IMDb decribes the film as a drama, billing it as such: "Facing a mid-life crisis, a woman rents an apartment next to a psychiatrist's office to write a new book, only to become drawn to the plight of a pregnant woman seeking that doctor's help."
Although Itouch maintains the commercial was flighted at a time in line with e.tv's rules, and the movie had a 16 age restriction, the nature of the film that was being aired at that time resulted in the advert being "inappropriate".
MyBroadband reports that the ASA said: "Although the ad was aired during a late-night film, it was flighted during a movie with a content unrelated to this type of service."
