Adele lined up for X Factor final

Los Angeles - Adele has been lined up to perform on The X Factor final.

The Someone Like You hitmaker has been hand-picked by show boss Simon Cowell to perform at the final of the talent series on December 11 in front of 10 000 audience members at Wembley Arena, with a further 20 million expected to tune it at home.

After being diagnosed with a vocal chord haemorrhage in October - and being forced to cancel her US and UK tours - this will mark the 23-year-old's first major performance since being struck down with the condition.

An insider told The Sun newspaper: "Her management said this week she is still planning to make it. It's amazing news for fans and viewers."

While it is not yet known which acts will make the final, Coldplay and Canadian crooner Michael Buble are also set to perform on the show and it is thought Irish teen Janet Devlin will be paired up with the Fix You hitmakers.

The insider said: "There isn't anyone left in the show who would suit Coldplay's music apart from Janet.

"She wowed everyone when she sang Fix You. It shows how confident everyone is that Janet will make the final."
