Carte Blanche wins legal journalism award

Cape Town – Carte Blanche on M-Net (DStv 101) has won the TV category at the 2015 Legal Journalist of the Year Awards.

The weekly investigative magazine show saw Joy Summer and Tony Beamish win the Legal Journalist of the Year award in the television category.

Carte Blanche won for the story from Joy Summer and Tony Beamish who investigated the practice of lawyers overcharging clients in contravention of the Contingency Fees Act.

Their Carte Blanche insert focused on the overcharging practices of the well-known South African attorney, Ronald Bobroff who was grilled on-air by Devi Sankaree Govender.

Carte Blanche also got a commendation in the TV category at the Legal Journalist of the Year Awards for Michael Duffet's work for Week 7: Dewani Trial covering the Shrien Dewani court case.
