Johannesburg - A sibling can be defined as one of a group of offspring who have one or both parents in common. In most societies these brothers and sisters grow up together. But sometimes they don’t. Half-siblings are second-degree relatives and have on average a 25% overlap in genetics.
Half & Half on CBS Drama, DStv Channel 134, weekdays at 15:10 and 21:h00, is a drama series focusing on the lives of two paternal half-sisters in their twenties. They were separated throughout their childhood, and are finally developing a close relationship.

Blended families are just as common in Hollywood as they are in the rest of the world. Here are some great examples of celebrity siblings, including from South Africa, who are continually making waves in the entertainment industry:
1) The Ranaka’s: Not only is Dineo holding it down in the entertainment industry, this lady also knows a thing or two about business as she manages her fashion label LUVDR. And Manaka continues to amaze us on screen.
2) The Mdlongwas: Oskido and DJ Pepsi are both excelling in the music industry. It must be in their genes as they continue to make hit after hit.
3) Lisa Raye and Da Brat: As different as they are they share a parent making them half-sisters.
4) Chris and Liam Hemsworth: The blue-eyed brothers have made their fame and fortune on the big screen. Their good looks and charm make us very happy there are two of them.

5) Elle and Dakota Fanning: Child star Dakota caught our attention in the blockbuster I Am Sam, and now her little sister is following in her footsteps as a blockbuster princess herself. Their parents must be proud.
6) The Ngubeni’s: Sister and Brother Sarah and Wright Ngubeni, are both actors and TV presenters. The resemblance between them is striking and you cannot miss that they are related and doing well for themselves.
7) Ma-e and Ntoo-ksa from Teargas: Here are siblings who started out small from home and continued to grow. They are now one of South Africa’s best hip hop groups.
Clearly sibling relationships have their ups and downs, but family to them always comes first.
