Celebs up sex toy sales - doccie

London - A new Channel 4 documentary blames celebrities for the sexualisation of society.

More Sex Please, We're British follows the staff at online sex toy retailer, Lovehoney.co.uk over five months as they prepare to launch a new sex toy and co-owner Neal Slateford says the willingness of celebrities to discuss their most intimate secrets has been a key sales drive for the company.

He explained: "A famous celebrity will give a big interview about their sex life or their love of sex toys and we will see a flurry of sales afterwards.

"It all started with Sex In The City - which was incredibly liberating for women, especially after Charlotte became a virtual recluse after buying a rabbit vibrator at New York's famous Pleasure Chest sex story.

"Suddenly ordinary women weren't afraid to talk about their sex lives and their use of sex toys.

"It's great that celebrities are being more honest about their sex lives. There has been such a huge change in people's attitudes over the last 10 years.

"Now mainstream retailers like Boots, Tesco and Superdrug sell sex toys. Take a walk down the pharmacy aisle and you'll see vibrating penis rings and bullet vibrators alongside the condoms."

Buzz word

Earlier this year, X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos was left embarrassed after a sex toy started vibrating in her bag at Miami airport.

The N-Dubz singer said the incident was the "most cringe" moment of her life, but denied the X-rated Rampant Rabbit aid was hers.

She said: "It was so embarrassing when it went off buzzing in my bag.

"I only bought it as a present for a mate, but the joke ended up on me."

However, Tulisa has previously urged her Twitter followers to use sex toys.

While in Los Angeles working on her solo album in February, she wrote: "Happy valentines day uk.. all u lovers, I wish u a romantic day... 2 all my singles, hook up wid ur girls n go home 2 ya wabbit! Yeziirr. (sic)"

In another message to her assistant, she added: "@GarethVarey bring on miami...ipods, drink, la charanga and wabbits...what more does a girl need? (sic)"

Tulisa was also spotted with a friend in the Hustler sex shop in Hollywood, laughing at their erotic products.
