"Based on the totality of Charlie Sheen's statements, conduct and condition, CBS and Warner Bros Television have decided to discontinue production of Two and a Half Men for the remainder of the season," the statement said.
Production on the comedy had been due to resume next week following a hiatus to allow Sheen to deal with his drug and alcohol problems.
Sheen still behaving badly
Sheen, the highest paid actor on television with a reported $27.5m salary last year, was meant to undergo rehab at home after being hospitalised following a reported cocaine binge. But reports this week indicated that the Hollywood bad boy was still behaving badly.
Sheen, 45, has spent almost $900 000 on cars for four women this month, and last week blasted the decision to temporarily halt the production.
In an open letter published on Thursday on celebrity website TMZ.com, he blasted producer Chuck Lorre, calling him "a stupid, stupid, little man and pussy punk that I never want to be like." In a radio interview, he called Lorre a "charlatan" and claimed to have turned his "tin cans into gold."
