Comedy Central picks roasters for Steve

Johannesburg – Comedy Central Africa  has revealed Casper De Vries, Kuli Roberts and John Vlismas as the first three members of the roasting panel that will be roasting musician Steve Hofmeyr at the first Comedy Central Africa Celebrity Roast, reported Comedy Central Africa.

These three celebs are just the first of eight who will be tasked with telling jokes and throwing insults at the controversial musician.

The roast master as well as the remaining five roasters will be announced at a later stage.

Head of Comedy Central, Evert van der Veer, said: "We are delighted that Casper, John and Kuli are joining us for the first Comedy Central Roast in Africa.

"Steve Hofmeyr may think he has a tough hide but he's going to need Kevlar to get through this Roast unscathed."

The roasters were thrilled at the prospect of forming part of the first panel of roasters in Africa.

"I'm very excited! I’ve got my marinade, I’ve got my recipe: all we need now is the Roast," said veteran comedian Casper de Vries.

To heap scorn and humiliation

Funnyman John Vlismas was also elated at the thought of roasting Hofmeyr.

"Dear Mr Hofmeyr as a professional humorist, it is with baited breath and huge gratitude that I accepted the invitation to heap scorn and humiliation upon you at the below mentioned appointment.

"I know you feel that I am not that funny, well, I suppose we all have an opinion. I have chosen to save mine for the Lyric Theatre stage," wrote Vlismas.

Tickets for the live recording of the show go on sale on 23 July at 15:30 and cost R350.

The show will be filmed on 11 September in Johannesburg and be broadcast on Comedy Central on 24 September.
