Cape Town – MultiChoice is lowering the monthly DStv subscription fees, but only in Ghana, due to that country's improving currency.
South African consumers buckling under a weak Rand are not getting a reduction in subscription fees.
The satellite pay-TV platform has decided to lower the monthly subscription fees for subscribers in Ghana for DStv Premium, DStv Compact, DStv Family and DStv Access from the beginning of November.
MultiChoice says that its costs are largely based on the United States Dollar and the Euro when it comes to paying for satellite capacity to transmit TV channels, as well as for paying for the TV channels and its content.
"With the strengthening of the currency in Ghana it has enabled us to review our subscription rates and make adjustments to improve the price to our loyal subscribers," says MultiChoice Africa.

MultiChoice says several new channels recently launched on DStv like the M-Net supplied M-Net Edge and VUZU AMP, as well as Nick Toons and Nick Jr from Viacom International Media Networks Africa (VIMN Africa), and shows and channels like the new season of Big Brother Africa entitled Big Brother Hotshots.
