Cape Town – Come Monday it might not be the spring rains preventing you from getting DStv's new TV channels – it will be the complex you're living in.
MultiChoice and M-Net are launching a new group of M-Net Movies channels on Monday, as well as making other channels available in high definition (HD) which means that DStv channel numbers are also changing.
DStv subscribers who live in "multi-unit dwellings" might have a problem from Monday since their DStv installations are not up to spec to receive the new additional TV channels.
DStv is warning subscribers who live in blocks of flats or residential complexes and who don't have their own satellite TV dishes that they might not be able to get the new TV content from Monday.
Verify the system
This is because some complexes make use of the single cable distribution system which is not geared for MultiChoice's new channel content.
"DStv customers who live in a complex or flat where they don't have their own dish, will have to request their body corporate to verify if their system is capable of receiving new services before 1 October. These customers can SMS their e-mail address to DStv at 32444," said DStv.
The changes to channel numbers and the addition of the new channels will happen automatically in the early morning hours of Monday 1 October, so subscribers who don't get or see it, will have to have their building's installation system checked.
"DStv customers are advised to access the information about their specific decoder on DStv.com or press OK on their DStv remote to see if any action is required on their part," DStv said.
