Sydney - The Dalai Lama has appeared as a guest judge on Australian MasterChef.
The Tibetan spiritual leader was given several vegetarian and sweet dishes by contestants to sample, but he did not wish to judge their offerings because it is against his Buddhist principles.
Speaking about the food he was presented with, he said: "They all had a special taste and beauty."
The religious figurehead also explained that as a Buddist monk it is "not right" to prefer a certain type of food.
"My knowledge of these things is very limited. Whatever I get I accept.
"As a Buddhist monk it is not right to prefer this food or that food."
