Johannesburg - The Idols winner and runner-up have split the R500 000 prize money between them.
Elvis Blue, the music teacher from George, was announced as the winner of Idols season six on Tuesday night.
After host ProVerb made the announcement, Elvis revealed that he and fellow top two contestant Lloyd Cele had entered a pact last week that whoever was named the winner, they would share the R500 000 cash prize between them.
In a press conference held after the finale, Elvis Blue said he will be using his share of the prize money to ensure that he will be making music "for a long time to come".
Lloyd has said that since he did not win a recording contract, he would be using the R250 000 to release his own album.
In addition to the prize money which was co-sponsored by M-Net and Ford, Elvis wins a recording contract with Universal Music, a new Ford Figo and other prizes.
