Ex-child presenters host new MTV show

Johannesburg - It was announced today that a new MTV show will launch this month hosted by veteran TV presenters Roxy Burger and Sade Giliberti.

MTV Choice is a magazine show that will play music chosen by the audience, as well as looking at "the hottest vids, news, views, crews, apps, memes, Tweets, styles and trends shaping [the viewers'] universe."

20 years TV experience between the two

Burger has been on SA television screens since she was 10 years old and became well known as a presenter and representative for M-Net's children show KTV.

"When I heard I was going to host MTV Choice with @OneSadie - yes, we even talk in Twitter handles! - I suspected I might be on an episode of Catfish! I couldn’t believe I was fulfilling a dream of being on MTV. EM-TEE-VEE, baby!" Burger told MTV.

"What an honour to be a part of the @MTVza family. The best part of it all is that Sade and I get to do what we love and deliver a kick-ass show - weekly - to the cool kids of the television world: the MTV viewer!"

Giliberti is another former child presenter, known for presenting SABC1's YOTV and was also a promo director for Vuzu.

"Unreal!  Unreal!  Unreal!  Is the only word I can use to explain this. It's a dream come true for me!  When I was younger I would watch Eden Harel on MTV and think to myself: I'm going to be cool like her one day; I'm going to be an MTV presenter.  And here I am!!  BOOM BABY!! *does a dance*."

"I cannot wait to begin this new adventure with MTV, the fabulous @RoxyBurger and of course the MTV viewers of South Africa.  Let's rock this!”

Bright future

Alex Okosi, Senior VP and MD of Viacom International Media Networks Africa, see a bright future for the new show.

"We are very excited to be launching our first ever localised MTV magazine programme; we believe that it will be an amazing show for our audiences and are delighted to welcome Roxy and Sade onto our talent roster.  We are looking forward to working with them to create a sensational weekly TV show that will excite and engage viewers."

MTV Choice will air on 21 August at 16:40 on DSTV Channel 130. This is part of MTV's strategy to include local talent alongside the international ones which would see a host of other new, local shows.
