Cape Town - Long live the Fringedom!

Sci-fi drama Fringe has been renewed for a fourth season, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The news broke when one of the show's executive producers, J.H. Wyman, tweeted "Fringe was picked up!!!! Thanks Fringedom!"

Entertainment Weekly also reports that a Fox spokesperson has confirmed the full-season pick-up.

The show was recently moved to the Friday night 'death slot' on the network in the US, however reports indicate that Fringe has increased the network's Friday night ratings by 38%.

The popular show stars Dawson's Creek alum Joshua Jackson and Anna Torv.

The third season is currently airing on M-Net (DStv channel 101) on Thursdays at 21:30.
