Johannesburg - A brand new series, Bakery Boss premiering on TLC Entertainment (DStv 172) will see Buddy Valastro visit and aid failing bakeries to revive once-healthy businesses.
Whether it’s creating a new menu or updating the décor, Buddy hopes to transform the families and their businesses fortunes.
Buddy will travel across the country, bringing his famous blend of business skills and baking expertise to help other bakers that are struggling to make their American dreams come true. Having built his own family-run neighbourhood bakery, Carlo's, Buddy understands the challenges of running a business and the complications of doing it with relatives at your side. Buddy will now spend time helping a family in crisis, both personally and professionally, evaluating their every ingredient and technique and challenging them to make big changes, all in an effort to transform their crumbling dream into a sweet success.
Deciding to take on a new series with an already manic schedule in Cake Boss, Buddy felt the need to give back to other communities saying, “The Bakery has been good to me and my family for many years. In this new show, you will see my passion for baking and business come through as I help struggling bakeries get back on their feet.”
In the pilot, a family-owned Main-Street bakery in Frankfort, New York, is in danger of closing after more than 50 years, unless they can update their equipment and implement a new retail plan. The bake shop used to have a variety of cakes and pastries on the menu, but now the majority of its revenue comes from bread-making – and there isn’t much dough in it. The family wants to pass the business down to the fourth generation, but unless the younger employees can match the dedication of their seniors, the future is bleak. Buddy will do all he can to bring business in, but will the elders learn to accept criticism of their products and working practices?
