Gandolfini, Monteith for Emmys honour

Los Angeles - James Gandolfini and Cory Monteith will be honoured at the Emmy Awards.

Gandolfini, who died of a heart attack, and Cory, who lost his life to a drug overdose, will be among those given posthumous nods during the show this coming Sunday.

As well as a traditional 'In Memoriam' segment on the show personal tributes will be paid to James, Cory, Gary David Goldberg, Jean Stapleton and Jonathan Winters, paid by their close friends.

Emmy telecast executive producer Ken Ehrlich said: "The 'In Memoriam' is a very emotional and evocative segment for the Emmys, or any annual awards programme.

And the 2013 Emmy nominees are...

"These five individuals brought us such great entertainment and joy, so having their close friends share personal remembrances is something that will be very meaningful for television audiences across the country and across the generations."

In the segment Edie Falco - who played Gandolfini's character Tony Soprano's wife Carmela Soprano in The Sopranos - will remember Gandolfini, Jane Lynch will pay tribute to her Glee co-star Cory, while Michael J. Fox will honour Family Ties producer Gary David - who is widely credited with helping make him a star.

Rob Reiner will pay tribute to his All in the Family co-star Jean and Robin Williams will honour comedian Jonathan Winters, who was his early mentor and worked with him on Mork and Mindy.

The 65th Primetime Emmy Awards will take place on Sunday, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris and broadcast on live on US channel CBS.

* The Emmys will be aired live on M-Net (DStv 101) on Monday, 23 September at 02:00, and rebroadcast later that day during primetime at 20:30.
