Cape Town – The 2015 State of the Nation Address by president Jacob Zuma will be covered on Thursday by various broadcasters and TV channels.

With multiple blackouts, cut-outs and interruptions during crucial moments and must-see proceedings inside parliament's National Assembly during 2014, MultiChoice is unable to say that it guarantees an uninterrupted broadcast of the Parliamentary TV Service (DStv 408) on DStv.

Asked on Wednesday whether any steps have been taken to ensure an uninterrupted broadcast of this event on DStv, MultiChoice told Channel24 that "we monitor and actively manage the broadcast of all channels on DStv on a daily basis, including the Parliamentary Service channel, to ensure an uninterrupted broadcast".

"Technical glitches occur due to various factors, which at times are unforeseen and outside of our control. However, when technical glitches occur we work hard to resolve them as speedily as possible".

SABC: Silent over coverage

The SABC didn't respond to a media enquiry made on Monday regarding what the public broadcaster's coverage of SONA 2015 will entail and declined to provide any specifics regarding SABC News and SABC coverage plans, which reporters will be covering it and where viewers will be able to watch what.

SABC News (DStv 404) will however broadcast president Jacob Zuma's speech from 18:30 to 20:30 which will be simulcast on SABC2. The SABC declined to say who will be anchoring the coverage.

eNCA: Trying out new live viewer feedback

eNCA (DStv 403) will broadcast SONA 2015 live from 19:00 until 20:30, simulcast on as well.

eNCA will start with special SONA 2015 coverage from 16:00, anchored by Andrew Barnes, Iman Rappetti and Ben Said, with Xoli Mngambi and Paula Chowles reporting from parliament.

eNCA will bring viewers live coverage from the red carpet as members of parliament descend on the National Assembly for the official opening of parliament, and will continue with analysis of the president's speech and reaction from the public, politicians and pundits.

eNCA will incorporate live feedback from urban people living in Gauteng, showing on TV how they react to what president Jacob Zuma says, by turning a knob on an input device of whether and how much they like, or don't like, what he's saying.

ANN7: Live crossings, analysis, reactions

ANN7 (DStv 405) will also have rolling coverage of SONA 2015 and told Channel24 that ANN7's broadcast will start at 16:00 until 21:00.

The broadcast will be co-ordinated from ANN7's Midrand studios and will commence with a build-up to the SONA 2015, presented by political analysts Ralph Mathekga and Frank Meintjies, with discussions geared around expectations from SONA 2015.

ANN7 says the following reporters will be stationed at SONA 2015: Clement Manyathela, Avumile Qongqo and Kevin Brandt, with a number of live crossings between 16:00 and 19:00 to these reporters.

These live crossings will include coverage of the red carpet and analysis from a range of political and social players.

At 19:00 ANN7 will broadcast the SONA 2015 speech from president Jacob Zuma live and post the speech there will be reactions and in-depth analysis in the ANN7 studio.

There's been no word from CNBC Africa (DStv 410) or BusinessDay TV (DStv 412) regarding live coverage or panel discussions around SONA 2015.
