Housewives creator denies anger

Los Angeles - The creator of Desperate Housewives has told a jury he wasn't angry that Nicollette Sheridan accused him of striking her and that the incident didn't factor into his decision to kill off her character.

Marc Cherry testified on Thursday in Sheridan's wrongful termination and battery case. He reiterated that he decided to kill off her character, Edie Britt, months before their dispute.

He told jurors that he didn't attempt to influence writers and executives on the show to support his version of events. Cherry claims he tapped Sheridan on the head on September 22 2008, while discussing a scene, but the actress claims he struck her hard.

Sheridan's attorneys claim Cherry didn't decide to kill off Britt until after an investigation cleared him of wrongdoing.
