Johannesburg - Nolly Meje's Idols dream is over.
The 24-year-old Cape Town resident received the least number of viewer votes after Sunday's performances.
After announcing the bottom three contestants - Crushanda, Lefa and Nolly - host ProVerb gave Nolly a chance to sing Mama Do by Pixie Lott in order to convince the judges to use their one save vote to keep her in the competition.
Judge Unathi Msengana said "Unfortunately we won't be using the save tonight. It's been an incredible journey, thank you."
The result was a surprise to some as Mark Pilgrim, The Wild's Milan Murray and Jacaranda 94.2 DJ Martin Bester all thought Lefa would be going home.
The nine remaining Idols contestants will perform in the Homebrew spectacular on Friday at the Mosaïek Teatro in Fairlands, Johannesburg. Tickets are available at Computicket.
The show will air on M-Net (101) and Mzansi Magic (107) on Sunday August 14 at 17:30.
