Idols 8 auditions hit Mother City

Cape Town - The eighth season of Idols kicked off with long queues at the first round of auditions in Johannesburg and Durban – and now it's Cape Town's turn.

The Cape Town auditions will be held at the GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World on Saturday, February 18.

"Cape Town has produced a long list of Idols winners and music industry success stories, but last year the Mother City was at the bottom of the list in terms of entries. We trust that Cape Town wannabes will turn up in droves this year to show us that there's still some fabulous undiscovered singers in the region," says M-Net Communications Manager, Lani Lombard.

Entrants must be at least 16 years old on the first day of their audition and no older than 30. If someone is younger than 18, a parent or guardian must be present to sign the necessary documents.

Other requirements include being a South African citizen, as entrants will be asked to present a valid ID document, and musical instruments are also allowed.

Idols will start on M-Net (101) and on Mzansi Magic (107) on Sunday, June 3.
